Definition of genre, sub-genre and hybrid-genre.

Genre- a category of art,music or literature (metal hammer is an example of a genre specific magazine with the magazine being about heavy metal)

SubGenre-a subdivision of a genre of literature, music, film. (electronic dance music magazine is an example of a sub-genre magazine, based on edm which is a subgenre of dance music)

Hybrid-Genre-A cross-genre (or hybrid genre) is a genre in literature,music,art that blends themes and elements from two or more different genres (billboard is an example of this which includes artists that are pop rock such as maroon 5)

Masthead font decision

I believe this font is perfect for the type of magazine i am trying to create as the urban/graffiti look of the text gives the masthead a recognizable masthead and so the reader would be able to recognize the brand if it was placed somewhere else, also the target audience of 16-25 year old people will be able to recognize the graffiti look of it more than say elderly people and so i believe the font complements my target audience, also the genre of my magazine dubstep/edm also compliments the urban look of the font with the roots of my genre of music being involved with clubs etc.

Explanation of summer photos

Firstly i believe the images i have included of a club in my summer photos will be useful as many of my features in my magazine will revolve around the clubbing scene as the music genre i have selected is mostly played in clubs, also the images i have included of construction sites in Manchester will be useful as features in my magazine will include Manchester as being the prime location for clubs etc, also the urban grunge style photos gives my magazine a level of authenticity with the features and make the points in the article more believable.
